At Precision Tool Technologies, we’re always looking for new opportunities to invest in our machining capabilities. For example, we recently commissioned a 5-axis CNC machining center that lets us run parts more efficiently with fewer setups. One of the parts taking advantage of this new capability is featured in the following video.
Already, this machine — a DMU 50 five-axis milling machine from DMG Mori — is improving our ability to produce complex parts more efficiently, enabling us to machine parts in one pass that would require multiple, manual setups on a 3-axis machine. In one recent example, it has reduced the number of milling operations on a part from four to one and lowered our manufacturing time by about 75 percent.
The DMU 50 supports 60 tools, and its design makes robotics integration easy. Other features and benefits of this new machine include:
